209. Selective laser sintering

Currently, SLS technology can be used for materials include: nylon powder, cover the glass powder wrapped in nylon, polycarbonate powder, polyamide powder, wax, metal powder (often have to be re-formed after the sintering and copper infiltration process), follow-wrapped hot curing resin sand, cover the wax and re-wax ceramic powder metal powder.

And others as rapid prototyping, SLS also uses a laser beam on the powder-like layer forming material scanned by the laser beam of the powder is sintered. When a layer is scanned after sintering, the thickness of a table drop, a dressing on it before putting another layer of roller compacted powder evenly, until the completion of the form. In the modeling process, the model without the powder sintering and the cantilever part of the cavity plays a supporting role, do not have to be generated as the SLA process as technology support structure.

SLS technology depending on the materials used vary, sometimes supporting more complex process. For example polyamide sintering, the sintering process in order to avoid scanning the material caught fire due to high temperatures, must be the work of the machine in the shape of space filled flame retardant gas, usually nitrogen. In order to reliably sintered powder materials, the machine must be the work space, directly involved in the modeling work and the use of all parts of the powder material pre-heated to the required temperature, the preheating process often required several hours. Modeling work is completed, in order to remove the surface adhesion of the IRES, need to use a soft brush and compressed air, and this step must be completed in a closed space sealed to avoid dust pollution.
