60. When should I use Rapid Prototyping?
For the use of
rapid prototyping, there is no clear guideline. But, as with any tool, there is certainly a consideration that make it a wise choice.
Complexity- the speed and price advantages of rapid
prototyping are most evident when the part geometry is complex. New SLA equipment (VIPER) is able to build to an accuracy of 0.05mm when high resolution is required.
Size-time and price are dependent on the volume of material in the part and the overall extent dimensions(maximum X,Y and Z).
Save Time- a complex prototype delivered quickly is the key to rapid prototyping. If you have looming deadliness or a requirement for the
prototype to be delivered yesterday, rapid prototyping may be your only solution.
