41. Do I need to have a patent?
There is no law requiring anyone to file a patent application. But if you intend to develop a new product and wish to profit from your invention, you must file a patent application to protect your intellectual property. If you do not obtain a patent, anyone can implement your idea, replicate your product and pay you nothing, and you will have no legal recourse.
Certainly, you can make a prototype to display in order to obtain a patent registration.
