236. Fast Casting

Casting is the method commonly used in the manufacturing sector. In casting, the template, core boxes, wax molds are generally molded and machined by hand, not only processing cycle is long, expensive and difficult to guarantee accuracy. For some complex shape castings, mold manufacturing has been a chronic problem, rapid prototyping technology for the realization of short casting period, more variety, low-cost, high-precision provides a shortcut. The following three methods can achieve rapid casting.

1. Direct manufacturing with rapid prototyping technology with wax and resin casting lost foam
SLS method can disappear with wax or resin as raw materials, direct manufacturing casting wax and resin used in lost foam, and then the traditional casting process, the coated shell, dewaxing, roasting, etc., are casting shell. EPC for the resin, using high-temperature flash firing, rapid decomposition of the resin off. Less ash residue, no rose shell, high accuracy, very suitable for production of thin-walled castings of complex structures.
Using rapid prototyping technology, you can shrink the size of the error caused by correction, if the size of the finished casting tolerance, you can immediately make changes to the CAD model, and then make a second wax and resin mold. This method is especially suitable for complex shape of single or small quantities of castings, such as aircraft blades, impellers, and so special pieces. Foreign companies have been created using this method the impeller plane, motorcycle cylinder head, no chain of automatic vehicle axis castings.

2. Instead of using rapid prototyping prototype mold casting or manufacturing of wood in the casting mold.
Resin produced by SLS technology prototype instead of wood or ceramic prototype model, not only shorten the molding time, and the prototype of the level of laser forming is higher than the wooden model, strength and dimensional stability superior to wood pattern. Especially hard to process, you need to use a variety of combinations of wood mold the advantages of rapid prototyping model is even more prominent.
Rapid prototyping can also be used to make silicone molding mold or plaster mold, mold ceramic mold, and then turned into wax mold core shell or direct casting, this method is suitable for the production of small batch casting, silicone mold with method of turning , with the rapid prototyping and production of a prototype artificial bone, human head, turbine and other parts of the wax models and casting.

3. With rapid prototyping direct molding casting shell, core and pressure-type wax
Covered with ceramic casting material, casting can step into the shell, in the CAD environment, directly to the part model into a shell, which together with water riser system. Sintering process, the non-sintered parts parts, parts are still some powder. After sintering, the powder poured out again through the solidified casting to or for the type of shell. This method eliminates the traditional production of wax casting process, coated shell, lost wax process and other multi-channel, is a major change in the traditional casting process.
