221. Cast Urethanes
Cast Urethanes, RTV Molding and Polyurethanes (Polys): These terms all refer to a low-volume production method that produces prototype parts of a polyurethane plastic material.
It is possible to make prototypes of these materials appear just like hard-tooled plastic parts in terms of surface finish, color, accuracy, and material properties. Parts made of a cast urethane are ideal for marketing samples and test prototypes. They are worthwhile also when no more than 100 pieces are required, but budget and time restrictions prohibit creation of a rapid prototyping tool.
