At its simplest, the compression molding process consists of a molding powder (or pellets) being heated and simultaneously compressed into a pre-determined shape. For a thermo-set the melting must occur rapidly, since a network starts to form immediately, and the molten pellets must fill the mold completely before solidification progresses enough to prevent it.
